ABOUT THE ACADEMY OF CHERTANOVO

Chertanovo Academy was established in 1976. It is based in Northern Chertanovo district of Moscow, Russia. Academy was established by the Sports Department of the Moscow City Government.

In Chertanovo young talents from all over the country - boys and girls from the age of 6 to 17 are trained to play football. For admission you need to be a citizen of Russia.

Chertanovo Academy is financed by the state. The tuition is free.

The structure of Chertanovo Academy includes football groups for both boys and girls, a secondary school for its participants, a sports boarding school, as well as four teams, consisting of high school students and graduates of the Academy. That's men's team U-17, playing in the Russian Youth Football League and a professional team of the National Football League, FNL (Second Russian Division), and women's youth team along with the women's team of the Russian Premier Division.

STUDENTS OF THE ACADEMY

Among the graduates of the Academy are a number of footballers who played for the national teams of the USSR and Russia, as well as for renowned domestic and foreign clubs.

The most famous graduate of Chertanovo is Igor Kolyvanov, the best football player of the USSR in 1991, striker of the national team, who played for FC Dynamo Moscow (USSR), Foggia Calcio (Italy) and Bologna F.C. 1909 (Italy).

Here are some other prominent graduates of the Academy:

- Vasily Kulkov, champion of the USSR and Portugal, who played for the USSR and Russian national teams, Spartak Moscow (Russia), Benfica (Portugal), Porto (Portugal), Millwall (England), Alverca (Portugal);

- Igor Chugainov, five-time champion of the Russian Cup and player of the Russian national team, Torpedo Moscow (Russia), Lokomotiv Moscow (Russia);

- Alexei Nikolayev, FIFA football referee, a record holder among Russian referees by the number of matches in the top division.

- Arkady Bely, European champion in FIFA futsal (1999), winner of the Intercontinental Cup in FIFA futsal (1997).

- Mikhail Markin, European champion in FIFA futsal (1999), winner of the Intercontinental Cup in FIFA futsal (1997).

- Roman Zaikin, European champion (2010) and world champion (2011) in beach soccer, winner of the Intercontinental Cup in beach soccer (2011).

The graduates of the women's division of Chertanovo are tens of women's national and youth football teams of Russia.

More than a dozen of young graduates of the Academy play for the youth teams of the Premier League clubs. More than 10 more graduates of Chertanovo play for professional teams of the second and third divisions.

PROFESSIONAL TEAMS

Since 2014, the graduates of Chertanovo debuted in professional football, playing for FC Chertanovo, which now plays in the third ranked division of Russia (National Football League-2). In the 2018/2019 season the team took the fifth place in FNL (Second Division), and finished the 2019/2020 season in the third place. The average age of FC Chertanovo players is 21. This is one of the youngest professional teams in Europe.

FC Chertanovo is represented exclusively by the graduates of Chertanovo Academy. The policy of the Academy management is to avoid recruiting foreign football players as well as graduates of other football academies.

WOMEN'S TEAM

The women's team of Chertanovo Academy plays in the Premier Division of the Russian Championship. It is also exclusively represented by women graduates of the Academy and has the youngest team in the league. In the season 2018/2019 WFC Chertanovo played in the UEFA Champions League.

JUNIOR TEAMS

The students of Chertanovo regularly play for the Russian junior and youth national teams of all ages (from U-14 to U-21).

In 2013, the players of Chertanovo represented the backbone of the Russian national team, which won the U-17 European Championship in Slovakia. Six students of the Academy became champions.

In 2015, three students from Chertanovo won silver medals at the European U-19 Championship in Greece.

The students of the women's division of Chertanovo are leaders of each and every Russian national team, from the U-14 up to the national team.

RUSSIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The teams of the Academy have won the Russian Championships held among sports schools for five times.

INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS

Chertanovo Academy teams regularly participate in major international tournaments.

Each year Chertanovo players take part in the Tokyo U-14 International Youth Football Tournament in Japan, Torneo Mondiale Manlio Selis in Italy and Madrid Football Cup in Spain.

In 2013, the U-17 team of Chertanovo claimed the main award of the Montaigu Mondial Tournament in France.

In 2015, the U-15 team triumphed at the Memorial Stefano Gusella in Italy and the Premier Cup European Qualification Tournament in Denmark.

In 2017, the U-13 team won the Bellaria International Cup in Italy and the U-14 team won the Madrid Football Cup in Spain.

Furthermore, teams from Chertanovo competed in MINI EURO 2014 (Germany and Czech Republic), CARNEVALE DI GALLIPOLI 2014 (Italy) MENORCA CUP (Spain), Milk Cup (Northern Ireland), Trofeo D'Alterio Group (Italy), Torneo Piru Gainza (Spain), DARKO TIRONI Tournament (Croatia), Volkswagen Junior World Masters and many more.

KOLYVANOV CUP

Since 2009 the Academy has been holding the U-10 International Junior Tournament Cup, named after the most known graduate of Chertanovo Igor Kolyvanov.

All the strongest junior teams of Russia - CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow, Dynamo Moscow, Krasnodar, Rostov, Chertanovo and others, as well as our guests from Belarus, Dinamo Minsk, and Italy - AC Milan and Inter Milan regularly participate in it.

Over the years, the tournament featured Spartak Moscow, Zenit St Petersburg, Levski Sofia, Sconto Riga, with the Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Kyiv becoming the champions in 2013 and 2014.
